About Us

St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital, Njinikom is found in the North West Region of Cameroon. Njinikom is located some 60 km from Bamenda, the regional capital, and is one of the sub-divisions that make up Boyo Division, between Fundong and Belo. It is a rural location noted for its hilly topography.

The hospital was started by the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis (TSSF) in 1953 as a maternity home that was later transformed into a general hospital. It was blessed in early 1963 by the Right Bishop Jules Peeters, and on 19 April 1963 it was inaugurated by the first President of Cameroon, His Excellency Amadou Ahidjo. With a bed capacity of less than 50 at inauguration, the hospital has grown and today has a bed capacity of over 250.

From inception, the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis have managed the hospital. TSSF is a Roman Catholic religious congregation of Pontifical Right, active in healthcare in Cameroon since 1936. The hospital operates 24 hours a day, providing the services of a general hospital across 21 departments, organized to deliver preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative care to the people of Njinikom and beyond.
